For Poem of the Week, I’d like to share something from friend and writer Scott Gustin<\/strong>. I’m very fond of it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

9\/25\/2009<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hammer of youth falls<\/p>\n

Upon sun drenched skin<\/p>\n

As the fancies of idols<\/p>\n

Erode and blister<\/p>\n

The small hand reaching out<\/p>\n

Clenches fist and inhales<\/p>\n

Fermented fruits long littered to Earth<\/p>\n

Faint memory of blossomed limb<\/p>\n

Upon desolate road<\/p>\n

Among etched granite stone<\/p>\n

Below cracked timber of long silent mine<\/p>\n

On Milky Way spattered nights<\/p>\n

The creep of time<\/p>\n

And the pondering mind<\/p>\n

Last year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s draught of dust<\/p>\n

To sooth not but thistle<\/p>\n

Beneath pale slivered moon<\/p>\n

Night quenches glow<\/p>\n

To pound this season\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s crop to pulp<\/p>\n

So one may not thirst long<\/p>\n

To thirst for not<\/p>\n

Now these bones shall lie<\/p>\n

Where gavels are crushed<\/p>\n

Beneath hoof or foot<\/p>\n

Where the right hand<\/p>\n

May caress the horn<\/p>\n

And bedtime myths<\/p>\n

Are swept upon restless sea<\/p>\n

Upon these pages pool ink night<\/p>\n

And not is but a tale<\/p>\n

Woven from will<\/p>\n

That one might set foot<\/p>\n

Upon not trail<\/p>\n
