Happy New Year!! I hope the year ahead brings new adventures, good health and good times!

For me the past year was very productive, I was on the road constantly, met tons of great people and had the good fortune to work on some great and creative projects. I hope for more of this in the new year ahead.

Thanks for your readership, for the support and friendship.

One Wet Arm

One Wet Arm

One wet arm
It drips red
It drips time
Running out
Drop by drop
The clock turns back
Through time
Through travel
A lifetime with flashes
A war wounded and lost
Drop by drop
Drip by drip
One wet arm

Big Willy Hignight’s 3 Rules for using WIFI in a public café

1. Hey Jack-hole, use some freaking earphones. That’s great, I get it, you like your music and your laptop has speakers. Guess what, none of the rest of us care or want to hear your music. You’re Mr. Mixmaster next big DJ… I get it. And I don’t care. Plug in some freaking headphones.

2. Hey you greedy son of a bitch energy hog, how about not using both plugs in an outlet. Yes, believe it or not this has to be a rule because there are actually people in this world that will have the audacity to plug their laptop into one of the two holes in an outlet and charge their cell phone through the other… Seriously, where were you raised?

3. Finally… Dear quasi-homeless librarian crazy conspiracy theory types, this is not your home. Please don’t move in. I get it, I travel with books, and sometimes snacks from home, etc… but really, this is not your satellite office (or living room) please don’t bring everything and the kitchen sink and spread it all over your small café living space like a person hoarding books, napkins, duffle bags, etc…
Thank you for your attention, with these three simple rules we will all get along much better… and I won’t have to think you are all total jackasses.

Sincerely,
Big Willy Hignight

Gavin Hignight official website RELAUNCH 2010!!

I’m excited to announce the first complete redesign of my website since its inception!  We have worked hard the last few months to completely update the site with a new look and new content.

It’s streamlined, (less is more, right?) and there are direct links to everything important for those interested in following my writing and creative endeavors.

The site redesign was done by denversaur and I very much appreciate it.

Moving forward, through the rest of 2010, and then into 2011 I plan to utilize the UPDATES page much more, using it to display images from past work, share new video work and finally… to get more writing in.  The Poem of the Week feature will continue as well.  There is also a twitter feed and links to my facebook and twitter page.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to check this site out.  I’m glad to say some very exciting things are just on the horizon.

November 5th 2008.

Today everybody is thinking and speaking of hope, of change, of history, of a chance that there may be better times ahead.

I hope so too.

Last night people we’re literally dancing in the streets. I joined them. It’s not often I know I am watching history.

I’m hoping soon, instead of focusing on survival I can get back to focusing on being creative.

Vote Obama on November 4th!

Updates? Info on Gavin Hignight? Info on Gavin’s Projects? Not this week, something more important.

We have to fix what is wrong with this country. We have to fix what went wrong with this country eight years ago.

Get out there on Tuesday the 4th, and Vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

It’s time we all move forward, instead of being held back.

Thanks.
